“I stay away from the telephone if at all possible.” – Lee Trevino
Monday, September 8th
The one thing that showed up on my calendar today was a scheduled telephone call with an old friend. A scheduled telephone call!
I can process the fact that technology has taken us into a new world of communication, mostly online, but what I can’t fathom is how a generation of people raised on princess phones and cordless wonders have now abandoned the phone for texting and instant messaging.
There are literally only two or three people I make an effort to schedule phone calls with. I forget how fun it was to talk for hours about next-to-nothing. Not only was it fun, it was a vital activity. Communication has changed and perhaps I underestimate how much I get out of face-to-face interactions now.
Do you use telephones frequently?
