“Life is made up, not of great sacrifices or duties, but of little things, in which smiles and kindness, and small obligations given habitually, are what preserve the heart and secure comfort.” – Humphry Davy
Sunday, June 8th
Sunday was a meeting day, a chance to meet with my cohousing neighbors to discuss the latest issues in our community. I am usually filled with gusto to attend the meeting, but after an active Saturday of doing yard work I had no steam left to sit for three hours. But this is one of the obligations of living in community. We meet and discuss. So I did. It’s as easy as that.
The meeting turned out to be great. We moved through a long agenda. We made a decision by consensus with relative ease. We had time to share both our joys and concerns that brighten and shade our lives. We even had time for games and surveys that added levity to the mood of the room.
Sometimes a little obligation keeps us in the game.
How do you feel about your obligations?
